Siyum Sefer Torah in Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Today, Sunday there was a Siyum Sefer Torah at the Rimler home. The Sefer Torah which was written in honor of their parents, Reb Yechezkel and Mrs Esther Langsam OBM, was led in beautiful procession to Bais HaMedrash Eliyahu Nochum.

Teen Club at Lubavitch on the Palisades Enjoys NYC Shabbaton!

NEW YORK, NY [CHI] — On Nov. 16-17 the Teen Club at Lubavitch on the Palisades directed by Rabbi Chaim and his wife Yocheved Boyarsky organized a Shabbaton to NYC.

Some 40 high school teens stayed in a beautiful hotel in the heart of Manhattan, ate delicious food catered exclusively by Dorna’s and Deli Kasbah’s, prayed at the Carlebach Shul and the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue. They got to meet 100 Jewish teens from Toronto, and were inspired by a wonderful speaker from Israel, Doron Kornbluth. Doron spoke about the importance of Jewish pride.

N.J. law targets hand-held phone use, sending texts while driving

TRENTON, NJ — New Jersey motorists yakking on a hand-held cell phone or firing off text messages will soon run a greater risk of getting pulled over by a cop.

Gov. Jon S. Corzine on Friday signed legislation giving police more authority to target drivers using hand-held cell phones, and making it illegal to send text messages while driving distractions legislators contend make for risky driving.
