Longmont’s first rabbi encouraged by initial response

Longmont, CO — Whether shopping in a Longmont store or walking on Main Street, Rabbi Yakov Borenstein is often approached by area Jews who are curious about him. They ask if they can join him for Saturday morning services and about signing up for adult education classes. Some are pledging financial support, he says.

“It’s an unbelievable success,” said Borenstein, 25, who moved from Brooklyn to Longmont about a month ago with his wife Shayna, 22, and children Meir, 17 months, and Chaya, 3 months. “It’s been phenomenal.”

Hit & Run on Brooklyn and Sterling

At around 12:40am a car speeding down Sterling St went straight into a parked car while trying to make the right turn onto Brooklyn Ave. The car had an unknown number of male Black occupants all of whom got out of the vehicle after the accident and fled the scene.

The car they struck belongs to a Jewish resident of the community. The incident was witnessed by a bystander who while dialing 911 spotted a police car and flagged it down, and told them that the occupants of the car had fled down Brooklyn, the officers said they will follow them, after about 10 minutes when the officers didn’t come back they placed a call to 911 and officers responded.

Accident on President and Kingston

A minivan driving on President St was struck by a sedan that had made a left turn from Kingston Ave after taking a red light. Both drivers got out and worked things out. B”H there was no injuries.

Miami Children Donate Thousands to Chabad in the North of Israel

Following the group photo taken of the young shluchim, representatives of Chabad schools of Miami presented a gift of $18,000 to Chabad House directors in the north of Israel. The funds were collected by the children were designated for victims of the recent Lebanese war n the north. The Miami children took this opportunity to send along letters to children living in the north of Israel.
