Over 1000 Tefillin at the Israel Fest!

Once again, tens of thousands of Israelis as well as Jews form all walks of life gathered together at Woodley Park in Encino, California, to celebrate Israel Day Festival in the greater Los Angeles community.

Chabad of the Valley was there again this year with a series of educational booths. The centerpiece amongst them was a very well situated booth centrally located open to all four directions, reaching out and putting on Tefillin, and handing out Mivtzoim information throughout the day.

Tens of Shluchim as well as Anash from the Valley as well as from the greater Los Angeles area manned the booth and reached out successfully to so many.

Hundreds Attend the Lubavitcher Yeshiva Ocean Parkway Chinese Auction

In an event themed on “focusing on the future” hundreds attended a Chinese Auction held to benefit the Lubavitcher Yeshiva, Ocean Parkway. From 1:30 in the afternoon at the Campus Chomesh, Bais Rivkah ballroom was a showcase of all the items being offered up for auction. At 7:00pm a unique and special program was displayed for the entertainment of the people attending the auction, there was a play and speeches all around “the future of our children”, a hot topic of the night was Shiduchim, and a special guest speaker, Shimshon Stock, spoke about the topic at length followed by a Q&A session.

The list of the auction winners can be seen in the Extended Article, along with many pictures of the event. Enjoy!

Volunteering Teenagers Do Better All Around

Rebecca Rosenthal – Lubavitch.com
Kayla Goldman, right, has become a loving role model to Rebecca, her Friendship Circle buddy.

Moe Levin of Thornhill, Ontario, doesn’t think it’s right that teenagers are stereotyped as “sitting around playing videogames.” Not that Moe and his friends don’t hang out. And not that Moe never plays a videogame. He’s a regular teenager, and that’s what he and thousands of teenagers like him across bring to their volunteer commitment with the Friendship Circle. Sponsored by Chabad-Lubavitch across the United States, Canada, and around the world, the Friendship Circle matches teens and children with special needs for weekly socializing and special events.
