Holiday lights on Main Street in downtown Bozeman are about to get a whole lot brighter.

BOZEMAN, MT — In observance of Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, a 9-foot-tall menorah will be lit in front of First Security Bank during a public ceremony 6 p.m. Saturday. The giant candelabra symbolizes the holiday, which begins Tuesday and lasts until Dec. 12.

BARRINGTON, RI — What is being called by its sponsors a “grand family Hanukkah celebration” will take place on Sunday, Dec. 9, in front of Town Hall from 3:30 to 5 p.m. “This is the first time in history in Barrington that this is going to be taking place,” said Rabbi Moshe Laufer, director of the Chabad of Barrington, which is coordinating the event. “There has been a lot of strong interest from the Jewish community at large about this,” he said.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — On a recent chilly evening, more than 150 people gathered inside a fancy hotel ballroom to witness an uncommon 3,318-year-old tradition.
