Picture of the Day: A Shliach’s Birthday Gift

In honor of Rabbi Avrohom  Baruch Itkin‘s 30th birthday, his wife wanted to give him a true Shliach’s birthday gift – having 30 men come to the Tuesday morning Minyan and put on Tefillin. In true Lubavitch style, especially when you have a Shlucha working on things, over forty men arrived at Chabad-Lubavitch of Greene County in Kingston, NY this morning to put on Tefilin – one of them for the first time in his life!

From Days Gone By: A Younger Reb Yoel

The Kahan family poses for a portrait, circa early 1950s. To the right is a young Reb Yoel Kahan, later to become the Rebbe’s chief Chozer. Standing next to him is his father, Reb Foleh Kahan, a survivor of Stalin’s Gulags, where he spent 10 years for the crime of practicing Yiddishkeit in the Soviet Union, and his sister, Mrs. Gitta Gansburg. Sitting in front is his mother, Mrs. Rivkah Kahan.
