29 Years to the Passing of Rabbi Yosef Goldberg

Today, the 22nd of Sivan, marks the twenty ninth yohrtzeit of Rabbi Yosef Goldberg OBM, who served as the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Brunoy, France for over 40 years.

The following photos were sent in by the family Reb Yoske, one was taken on the 18th of Kislev 1968 at the wedding of his son – Rabbi Yaakov Goldberg who serves as the Rosh Yeshiva of Hadr Hatorah.

The other photo was taken on the 6th of Tishrei 1983 by a photographer from the National Geographic Magazine at a Farbrengen in 770. It is the last photo of Reb Yoske before his passing.

    The yeshiva was founded in 1947, he was the Rosh Yeshiva for nearly 40 years.

    What a beautiful beard! Amazing that with all he did he never got smicha. As told to me and others in public by his son, Rabbi Ya’akov Goldberg, Reb. Yosef intentionally avoided getting smicha so that he wouldn’t be pressured to become the Rav of a town.
