This was the lag B’Omer parade May 1960. Gentleman in bowler hat is councillor Maurice Blitz who was mayor of Hackney at time. He was a Jew and also lived in Cranwich Rd at 67. Shemtovs lived at 89 and I lived with my parents at number 50. Most of us kids living on Cranwich Rd and nearby all went to Lubavitch Talmud Torah at number 89. In the early years pre 1959 the only Lubavitch minyan was held on Shabbos and Yom Tov morning at home of Reb Yankel Gurkow at 112 Cazenove Rd. all this changed when reb Nachman arrived and a daily Minyan started at Lubavitch House then known as OSE. Shul gab aI was Sholom Ber Raskin OH

I seem to recognise the other gentleman with the bowler (behind Maurice Blitz) as the late David Elias, leader of the Indian Jewish community, founder of the Gan Eden shul opposite Lubavitch House, who was also heavily involved in numerous charitable activities on behalf of Indian Jews. Yes, it was on Lag b’Omer at the parade!
