5th of Tammuz – Yahrtzeit of R. Bentzion Shemtov

The fifth of Tammuz is the Yahrtzeit of Rabbi Bentzion Shemtov’s, a very special chosid and shliach from the past generation. Rabbi Shemtov is seen here Davening Beavodah in 770 in the late 5720s during the month of Tishrei. Rabbi Shemtov passed away in 5735 in a fatal car accident in Israel.

Friends to the Posner and Rosenberg families made their way to Montreal where the wedding of Shyke and Shani (nee Rosenberg) Posner took place. This picture was taken on the bus ride from Crown Heights of a few of the Chossons fathers friends.

Picture of the Night! Preparing Flowers at 3:30am

One of the customs of Shavuot is to adorn the home with flowers and greens, our Sages relate that although Mount Sinai was situated in a desert, when the Torah was given the mountain bloomed and sprouted flowers and since it is the Harvest Festival.

In the picture, a flower merchant is preparing hundreds of bouquets of flowers in order to meet todays demand.

Picture of the Day! – Shimshon and his Goat!

In the center with the goat is R. Shimshon.

As part of the Bais Rivkah Float R. Shimshon Stock OB”M would bring a goat and keep it around for the enjoyment of those that participated, the parade would then conclude at the park on Maple St between Troy and Schenectady and everyone was treated to a variety of attractions, among those was the goat who would stick around with Shimshon and entertain the children.
