Now Available – Weekly Spanish Brochure for Mivtzoim!

The weekly pamphlet for Mivtzoim, printed by Jabad of Argentina, headed by Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, and edited by Sofer Moshe Dahan, and Mrs. Miriam Kapaluschnik, is now available here in New York, to be distributed to the people on your Mivtzoim route.

No need to explain the importance of such a paper, or go into how much people enjoy reading something in their native language, even if they can also read English or Hebrew. So therefore, after much effort, and working together with Jabad of Argentina, they are being printed in New York, with the local Candle Lighting Times, and are available in the “Mivtzoim Resource Center”/“Mivtzoim Sale”.

Since last year this menorah became known as the largest kosher menorah in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records. It is lit every night with a respectable presence in Grand Army Plaza on 59th Street and 5th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

Last night the Menorah was lit by Sheldon Silver, 64th Assembly District and is the house Speaker.

A Parade of Light!

The second night of Chanukah a parade of 21 ‘Tanks’ and around 80 cars topped with Menorahs made their way from 770 to Manhattan with escort by the NYPD’s Highway Division. The parade made its way over the Manhattan Bridge on to Houston St. then up 6th Av. Where hundreds of thousands of people were witness to the parade, the parade then passed ‘Grand Army Plaza’ where the worlds largest kosher Menorah stands proudly, then back down 5th Av. To 23rd St. where the tanks then spread out across the city doing Mivtzoim, spreading to message of Chanukah and distributing menorahs to the masses!

Bill Handcuffs Chabad Tefillin Campaign

JPost.com
A Chabad post, where men of all ages are encouraged to try tefillin for the first time.

The familiar sight of Chabadniks inviting youths to put on tefillin may suffer a serious setback if a bill proposed by Labor MK Ophir Paz-Pines in the Knesset on Monday becomes law. The bill would prevent adults from placing pressure on anyone under the age of 18 to increase or decrease their religious involvement.

According to Paz-Pines, too much pressure is placed on youths to alter their religious traditions. Pressing youths to observe or discard religious practices can “cause the break-up of a family and cause damage to minors,” he said.

Simchas Torah Shlichus from Crown Heights

By Aliza Karp

The Arba Minim represent Jews with different characteristics all coming together. On Simchas Torah we put down the Arba Minim, signifying that our differences have now become nullified, and we dance together as one. But once inside 770, the people dancing together are people who are similar. How is the unity that transcends the Arba Minim applied to Jews who are not in 770?

TAHALUCHA! Tahalucha is Ahavas Yisroel. Tahalucha is Achdus. Tahalucha is Shlichus on Yom Tov. And most of the guys walking for hours hardly realize it. They go on Tahalucha because the Rebbe said to go. They make no Cheshboynos. And yet they are walking for hours to reach their destination, and then walking back. And they are doing it for Jews they have never met.

A Tahalucha Story!

From the Inbox

Melbourne, Australia — I want to share a story with you that just happened.

On Shmini Atzeres after Mincha, I walked down to a small suburb called Elwood together with my good friend Eli G. Elwood was once a large Jewish epicenter. It has a beautiful Shul with over 1400 seats, but people have long moved out to other suburbs, and aside for Rosh Hashanah Yom Kippur, its usually pretty empty expect for a few old men and woman. That being said, we were eager to follow the Chabad custom to go on Tahalucha and bring some life and joy to the few remaining people there.

As Shabbos finished and Yom Tov came in, Eli was craving for a cigarette. Not that I condone smoking, but he asked me to help him look for an existing flame to light his cigarette off, and we looked all over, but couldn’t find one. We also looked for the non-Jewish caretaker to help us out, but we couldn’t find him either. By this point Eli was getting a bit desperate so he went out to the street to see if he could find a passer by to light his cigarette.

Doctors At KCH Learn About Sukkos

COL.org.il

Tens of doctors from the Kings County Hospital in Crown Heights listened to a lecture on the essence of the Sukkos holiday delivered by the Rabbi of the hospital, R. Avrohom Lieder, who also arranged for a Sukkah to be built for the Jewish doctors and staff members, where he gave them the opportunity to say the blessing on the Arba Minim on every day of Chol Hamoed.

A new way to spread ancient message

Home Town Life

Livonia, MI – It’s a new Dodge pick-up with an ancient message — and those on the road this week in Southfield, the Bloomfields, Livonia and most points between have probably seen it.

But most passing motorists probably don’t understand the message, which reads: “Happy Sukkot.” They probably don’t know what to make of the roofed shelter which sits in the truck bed or the symbols of a lemon-like fruit and willow branch which are painted on its side.

That’s the point, says the truck’s driver who wishes to raise understanding of the Jewish holiday and its meaning.

Mivtza Lulav on a Sukkah Mobile in London!

The walls of the Sukkah were swaying, the Schach was almost flying away, and it really looked like the Sukkah was some time soon going to fall down. But there was no hurricane, no thunderstorm, no rain, it was hardly windy, but the signs of the Sukkah were flapping it looked like they would not be gracing our Sukkah much longer…

The Sukkah mobile was speeding down the road on the way to Mivtzoim in Southgate, London. Where over 300 people bentched Lulov and Esrog

Sukkah Mobiles Achieve Over 80,000 Lulav Shakes!

As previously reported, here, on CrownHeights.info; this year Sukkos came with some big surprises: the biggest Sukkah Mobiles ever hit the streets of NYC. Three Mega-Sukkah-Trucks were positioned around midtown Manhattan and have reportedly accomplished some really big results with some 2,000 Lulav shakes at each truck on each day of Sukkos.

Bochurim have been out doing Mivtzoim as early as 8am and went on until sunset. There were a total of 38 Sukkah Mobiles belonging to Mitzvah Tank Org. throughout the Metro Area. A rough average of all the reports from the individual Sukkah Mobiles, over the four and a half days of Mivtzoim gives us a total of more than 80,000 lulav shakes.
