Abandoned Car Catches Fire

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – At around 7:30 this evening an abandoned car that had been parked in an alleyway between Crown and Montgomery Streets and Schenectady and Troy Avenues caught fire, residents called 911 and FDNY reasponded within moments.

Early Morning Fire on President Street

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A fire broke out early this morning in 1544 President Street, a four story building which is mostly occupied by Jewish residents. The fire broke out at 1:30am on the top floor of the building.

FDNY firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and had the fire under control soon thereafter. There were no reported injuries B”H but the fire appeared to have caused lots of property damage.

Fire in an Elevator Shaft – Building Evacuated

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – At around 3:45 this afternoon residents of 675 Empire Boulevard were forced to evacuate the building due to a heavy smoke condition on all of the buildings six floors.

Early Morning Fire Tears Through Home

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 2:20 last night a fire broke out in the basement of a home at 1607 Carroll Street between Schenectady and Utica. FDNY arrived on scene within minutes and immediately began battling the fire, the cause of which remains under investigation, which they had subdued shortly after their arrival.

Van Bursts into Flames on Eastern Parkway

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 3:30 this afternoon the driver of a van traveling on Eastern Parkway noticed smoke coming from under his hood and quickly the van erupted into raging flames.

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At about 3 O’Clock in the afternoon Today, Sunday, a fire broke out in an apartment building, 501 Lefferts Ave between Kingston and Brooklyn Ave. The fire was on the seventh floor of the coplex and ripped through an entire unit.

Fire Destroys Families Apartment

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 1:40pm today, Sunday, a fire ripped through an apartment of family who barely escaped the flames. The incident happened at 770 Lefferts Avenue, a large and relatively new building complex which houses close to 60 families.

Manhole Fire Burns Two Cars

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — A large column of black smoke was visible just moments ago on Kingston and Eastern Parkway and a strong stench of acidic smoke filled the intersection. A parked minivan was going up in flames as firefighters battled the blaze.

Squatters Cause Rubbish Fire in Vacant Building

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 10:40 this morning a fire broke out in the vacant Colel Building on Union Street. Firefighters arrived at 1451-1453 Union St within moments of the call and began battling the fire and placing it under control soon thereafter.

Computer Causes Fire in a CH Building

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 1:00 in the afternoon today a fire broke out in an apartment on the first floor of 706 Eastern Parkway. The apartment was that of the superintended of the building who told CrownHeights.info that he was using his computer when smoke started coming out of it and before he knew it the whole room was engulfed in flames and smoke.

Manhole Explosion on Kingston Avenue

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Today, Tuesday, at about 1:30 in the afternoon, a manhole exploded on Kingston Ave [between President and Union St]. An underground electrical circuit overheated apparently and sent flames and smoke into the air.

Fire Tears up Bodega and Apartment

Crown Heights, Brooklyn – In an early morning fire a bodega and an apartment were completely destroyed and what firefighters are calling a suspicious fire. The fire broke out at around 7:20am in 690 E New York Ave which is on the corner of Albany, FDNY arrived on scene within moments and began battling the fire and the fire was subdued shortly thereafter.

Firefighters Return to the Scene of Earlier Fire

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — After battling and successfully putting out the initial blaze earlier yesterday, firefighter were called back as the temporary repair crews found some parts of the ceiling still smoldering but not ablaze.

At around 11:15pm firefighters went back in to the house in order to put out the recurrence. After a short 15 minutes it was deemed completely put out and repair crews went back to work.

Large Fire Breaks Out in a Crown Heights Home

Crown Heights, Brooklyn – At 7:45 this evening a fire broke out in the second floor of a Jewish home on Crown St. The incident began in a section of damaged wiring in the ceiling which caused a light bulb to suddenly exploded and instantly set fire to everything around it.

Another Fire in 1650 President Street

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — A fire broke out today at around 12:30pm in the building, 1650 President St. between Utica and Schenectady. This comes just a short five days after the blaze that broke out on the second floor, this past Motzoai Shabbos.

This incident took place in an apartment in the rear of the building on the first floor, the fire took place in one of the bedrooms. Firefighters put out the flames, but the fire caused significant damage. B”H there was no injuries.

Early Morning Fire on New York Avenue

Crown Heights, Brooklyn – At around 4:50am this morning a fire broke out at 362 New York Ave. between Carroll and President, on the second floor of the two family house. The first floor housed a Kloister and the second floor was the living quarters. All resident made their way out of the burning house without sustaining any injuries.
