Jewish Community Watch Raises $100,000+

Yesterday afternoon, the anti-child-abuse organization Jewish Community Watch launched a fundraising campaign in anticipation of the relaunching of their website, with the goal of raising $100,000 in 24 hours. Barely halfway through the day, the funds were already raised.

Update: With only minutes to spare, JCW Has achieved their secondary goal of raising $150,000.

Will Yvette Clarke Sign House Petition on Iran?

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, who represents New York’s 9th district – which includes Crown Heights –, is among few members of Brooklyn’s congressional delegation that has not signed a bipartisan letter to President Obama demanding that he consult with congress and obtain its approval before striking any potential deal with Iran.

Families Thank Community for Tehillim

Erev Yom Tov a call went out for the community to recite tehillim for the recovery of a member of Anash. Rabbi Yochanan Klein underwent a difficult and dangerous operation and did not wake up. As the holiday ended the family reached out and shared news of a big improvement in his condition.

Angry Students Spread Inflammatory ‘Pashkvils’

This morning, residents of Crown Heights left their homes to find that during the night “Pashkvils” (anonymous leaflets) had been placed in the windshields of cars all over the neighborhood. The leaflets were placed by several students of Oholei Torah Mesivta, who were protesting a supposed “slight” to the Rebbe’s “honor” during the school’s group portrait that took place Wednesday.
