A Community’s Tribute to Crash Victim’s Family

Earlier this week, a devastating crash on Eastern Parkway claimed the life of a young woman. A makeshift memorial of candles and flowers was put up by friends and nearby residents. Among the condolence notes was one which recognizes the diversity of Crown Heights.

Early Sunday morning, a drunk driver was speeding down Eastern Parkway and crashed into the car in which Michelle Migmott was sitting in the back seat. The force of the collision destroyed the rear of the car and killed Michelle, who lived just two blocks from the scene of the crash.

Area residents set up a makeshift memorial near the scene of the crash, with bouquets of flowers, candles and handwritten notes memorializing the victim.

One note, affixed to one of the bouquets, stood out with its signature from “the Jewish residents of the block.” The note read: “Our heartfelt condolences to Michelle’s family & friends. We are deeply sorry for your loss.”
