The Moscow Jewish community celebrated the first night of Purim, they were joined with a second celebration of a new Sefer Torah. The Sefer Torah was generously donated by Mr. Yosef Yitzchak Sandler.
Known for his boundless spirit and perpetual smile, with always an encouraging word for others, Rabbi Avrohom Shmuel Bukiet was a scholar, educator and mashpia (mentor) who served as a source of inspiration for anyone who met him. He passed away on Feb. 17 after a battle with the coronavirus. He was 70 years old.
Purim of 1988 was a poignant time in Chabad. Just weeks after the passing of his wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, the Rebbe was still holding all services in his house. The Rebbe cherished the Bochurim as his very own and worried about their care.
