Jerusalem, Israel — Recent interrogations of arrested members of Hamas in the West Bank town of Qalqilya produced information that the Islamic organization there was planning imminent terrorist attacks against Israel, including one using a large truck bomb, the Israeli Shin Bet internal security service said Tuesday.

Hamas, which is now the dominant faction in the Palestinian government, has not conducted suicide attacks within Israel since 2004 and has been committed to an Israeli-Palestinian cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip since November. People who usually speak for Hamas would not react to the Shin Bet report on Tuesday, apparently in an attempt to not lend the allegations any credence.

Livin’ the Soggy Life

by Elazar Kohen
A Holiday Thought

Life is filled with projects. Projects we take upon ourselves to enhance our lives, to improve our selves, or even just to pass the time.

Anything from spiritual resolutions, to diet & exercise, to writing semi-interesting articles, to squashing a pigeon with a large hammer (vulgar, I know, but hey – these are your projects, not mine…)

Some have a higher frustration rate than others; some take a lot longer; some require a lot more patience and dedication.
But we do our best to try and work through them.

Passover Comes to Low

by Anastasia Gornick and David Xia – Columbia Daily Spectator

New York, NY — While some students burned the midnight oil in Butler Library on Monday night, many others burned ceremonial candles, kicking off the weeklong Jewish holiday of Passover with traditional seders.

The Chabad Resource Center hosted a seder-a traditional meal during which participants pray, eat ceremonial food, and retell the story of the Jews fleeing from slavery in Egypt-in Low Library Rotunda last night for approximately 70 Columbia students and their guests.

Rabbi Yonah Blum led the seder, which had to be moved from its usual location in the Chabad Center on 113th Street because of the large number of students attending.
