The Weekly Sedra – Parshas Beha’aloscha

The Rebbe says:

This talk will be based on a verse in this week’s Haftorah (a short selection from the Prophets which we read after reading the regular Torah portion):

1. In this week’s Haftorah the Torah tells us that the Prophet Zechariya refers to the Jewish people and says “I see and behold there is a Menorah made entirely of gold…with it’s seven branches…”.

2. The Rebbe now explains to us why the Prophet Zechariya compared the Menorah and the Jewish people:

DOT: Slower Isn’t Safer On Route 17

By Ramsey Al-Rikabi – Times Herald-Record
Traffic is a blur yesterday westbound on
Route 17. A DOT report said lowering the
speed would not make the highway safer.

Lowering the speed limit on Route 17 would not make the highway safer, according to an internal state Department of Transportation report.

In fact, reducing the limit from 65 mph to 55 mph could reduce safety on the stretch of highway between the Town of Wallkill to the New York State Thruway.

“If (the speed limit) was lowered, it might be more dangerous,” said Josh Ribakove, a DOT spokesman.

Chabad Settles into New, Temporary Home

The News-Press Bonita Springs
Rabbi Mendy Greenberg

Bonita Springs, FL — Rabbi Mendy Greenberg is hoping to create a home away from home for the Jewish community by acquiring a new gathering space for the Chabad of Bonita Springs and Estero.

The Chabad moved into the 2,000-square-foot office space off Old 41 in Bonita Springs less than two weeks ago. The space will act as temporary home until a permanent spot is found to build a synagogue and Jewish community center.

“We got this place so we could have an identity of our own and so people could locate us on a regular basis,” said Greenberg. “This way we don’t have to rent a space every time we have a gathering or event.”

Crossing Double Yellow Lines Causes Accident on Empire

Crown Heights, Brooklyn – Yesterday, Sunday, a car attempted to pull into a driveway on Empire Blvd between Albany and Troy coming from the opposite side and hit a passing minivan causing it to collide with a parked car.

B”H there were no injuries and there was no one passing on the sidewalk where the parked car was pushed into. Drivers need to take extra care in that area of Empire, it’s the most accident prone intersection in Crown Heights.
