It is with immense sorrow we that we were informed of the passing of the venerable Chossid and Tomim Harav Shalom Dov Ber Kievman, z“l , a resident of Kfar Chabad. He passed away this passed Sunday, Chof Nissan.

Reb Berel Kievman was the son of the HaRav HaChossid R. Dovid Harodoker, zt”l, a renowned Chossid of the Rebbe Rashab, zy”a who it was said on him that he was a ‘Beinoni’. Reb Berel was known as a genius well versed in both ‘Nigleh’ and Chassidus. Those who spoke with him immediately were baffled by his phenomenal memory and brilliance. He was a walking encyclopedia.

Rival: Splenda claim confuses consumers

The marketers of Splenda have made millions by confusing consumers into thinking the yellow packets contain a natural product and not an artificial sweetener, its chief rival told a jury Tuesday in a trial that pits Splenda against its rivals in the $355 million market for sugar substitutes.

Splenda has cornered the $1.5 billion market for sugar substitutes since its 2000 debut through false advertising that implies Splenda contains sugar, the manufacturer of Equal says.

Accident Leaves Car Tangled in Gate on Empire

Brooklyn, NY — At around 6:45am this morning there was a three car accident in the intersection of Empire Blvd and Troy Ave. The incident began when a cabbie rear ended an Infinity sedan causing it to loose control and hit a parked SUV and bounce off it into a gate where the car came to rest.

Jerusalem, Israel — Recent interrogations of arrested members of Hamas in the West Bank town of Qalqilya produced information that the Islamic organization there was planning imminent terrorist attacks against Israel, including one using a large truck bomb, the Israeli Shin Bet internal security service said Tuesday.

Hamas, which is now the dominant faction in the Palestinian government, has not conducted suicide attacks within Israel since 2004 and has been committed to an Israeli-Palestinian cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip since November. People who usually speak for Hamas would not react to the Shin Bet report on Tuesday, apparently in an attempt to not lend the allegations any credence.
