Beginning the Festival of Lights, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today joined Jewish community leaders from across California for the 13th annual Chanukah celebration at the State Capitol. Participants in tonight’s ceremony included Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin, head of Chabad of California; Rabbi Mendy Cohen, director of Chabad of Sacramento and Academy award-winning actor Jon Voight.

Los Angeles, CA — Micah Abraham is standing on a stool in his parents' kitchen, stirring a bowl of brownie mix. “Frosting?” the 7-year-old asks Daphna Davidowitz, 16, his Friendship Circle volunteer.

“Not yet,” she cautions.

“When brownies done, we put on frosting!” Micah persists.

Suddenly he turns and runs outside in his bare feet. Daphna chases him down, laughing with him as she coaxes him back to the kitchen.

“I can put them in the oven and make frosting brownies!” he exults.

Micah suffers from autism. He goes to public school, accompanied by a full-time aide. He has trouble focusing, makes inappropriate comments and engages in repetitive behavior, all of which make it hard to interact with him.

At around 4:00pm this afternoon a Minivan driven by a yiddishe driver was making a right turn from Albany Ave onto Crown St ended up on the hood of another car. The driver of the Minivan said that he was making his turn when the other car driven by a yiddishe woman all of a sudden pulled out of a parking spot while the woman said she was standing and he was making the turn to fast.

FDNY and Police responded and had a large crowd of children just being dismissed from Lubavitcher Yeshiva located right at that corner. B”H no one was hurt.

2 Car Pile Up, Literally

Yud Tes Kislev Farbrengen with the Friendship Circle!

A very special Farbrengen took place Sunday evening for the 12 Boys and Bochurim in the Friendship Circle! They watched a video of the Rebbe, danced to lively music, enjoyed nosh and learnt about Yud Tes Kislev and it was topped off with a special game in which questions were asked and they boys answered them for points after which prizes were given out!

Fire in a House on Montgomery St.

At around 2:00am on Wednesday night resident on Montgomery between New York and Brooklyn noticed a strong smell of smoke and called 911. Firefighters arrived on scene and noticed smoke coming out of the house, they entered the house and quickly put out the fire and opened all the windows to ventilate the house.

Yoseph’s first dream was that he and his eleven brothers were busy working in the field binding stalks of grain into bundles when suddenly Yoseph’s bundle stood up and all the brothers bundles bowed down to it (Chapter 37, Verse 5 through 7).

The Hamilton Spectator

The rabbi was walking to the synagogue from his Westdale home, holding the hands of his two tiny children and singing joyously all the way.

Some passing teenagers laughed mockingly. The rabbi persisted, bringing yet more joy to his song.

On Tuesday night at around 11:45pm a woman driving on Crown St between Brooklyn and New York went careening into a parked car and pushing it into 3 other cars. A patrolling Shomrim member witnessed the accident and called 911, in the meantime the member approached the woman and checked if she was ok, which she was.

Police and EMS arrived on scene moments after the call, the woman did not require medical attention. The driver stated to bystanders that she must have fallen asleep at the wheel. Two of the three cars she hit belonged to Yidden.
