Building a Better World with Lego

Richmond News
Rabbi Yechiel Baitelman of Chabad of Richmond holds a Menorah in City Hall. A Hanukkah Family Festival will be held Sunday and the public is invited to take part in building an eight-foot tall Menorah out of Lego.

Richmond, British-Columbia, Canada — How is it that the simple act of lighting candles can have so much meaning?

When it’s the Menorah – a nine-stick candelabrum – it possesses deep and historical symbolism rooted in Jewish religious freedom.

Menorah Made of Kosher Food Cans to be built in West Nyack

The Journal News

New City, NY — Menorahs come in many shapes and sizes. But a 7-foot menorah, constructed from donated kosher food cans?

That’s what’s being planned for this month in West Nyack.

Chabad of Rockland in New City and Chabad Jewish Enrichment Center of Chestnut Ridge have joined forces for the past two years to build a menorah at the Palisades Center mall made from Legos donated by the Lego Store at the mall.

Rabbi Yisroel Goldberg of Chabad of Rockland thought this year the congregants would build a menorah that would benefit Rockland’s needy.

Young Shluchim worldwide participated in the first worldwide web rally and were able to virtually meet their friends and family from around the world. Conservative School Principal Weighs in on Chabad

Here is a beautiful testimonial from the principal of the Solomon Schechter School in Montreal. The school is conservative and the person writing the newsletter doesn’t have a great love for Chabad.

From our principal – Dr. Shimshon Hamerman

I was never a supporter of Lubavitch as a movement or as an ideology. However, when I opened the newspaper and read that the movement sends 4000 emissaries around the world to bring Jews closer to Judaism, I could not help but juxtapose Hizballah that sent out 4000 Katyushas, war, destruction and suffering while Chabbad disseminates Torah, love and brotherhood.

This Chassidic group sends its emissaries to wherever Jews might be around the globe to help Jews stay close to their traditions. While our teachers were in Venice, Italy we really had nowhere to make Shabbat but for a tiny Lubavitch Kosher restaurant that had room for possibly 30 people and welcomed over 200 guests to help them make Shabbat.
