Choosing Purpose over Pleasure, Young Jewish Professionals Volunteer in Israel

The young Jewish men and women who chose to come to the scene of one of the most horrific attacks in Jewish history were part of the Chabad Young Professionals (CYP) Mission to Israel. Organized by CYP’s chapter on New York City’s Upper East Side and including people from across the country, the group spent the week focusing on providing multifaceted support to the Israeli communities devastated in the wake of the attacks.

For Some Jewish Communities, the Safe Return of Hostages is Personal

Hostage Judith Ra’anan was born in Israel but moved to the United States 30 years ago. Chabad Centers Near IDF Bases Provide Lifelines for Soldiers Headed to War

More than 360,000 IDF reservists have reported to duty in what was the fastest and largest call-up in Israel’s history. Many of these young men and women came straight from their synagogues, where they were celebrating Simchat Torah, or from the homes of family members or hotels where they were spending the Sukkot holiday. Some flew in from abroad. But few had the time to adequately pack supplies, never mind shop for specialty items they’d need on the frontlines.
