Rabbi Yossi and his wife Rochie (nee Leider) Tiefenbrun of Crown Heights will IYH be moving on Shlichus to Pacific Beach, California where they will establish a new Chabad House serving the needs of the local Jewish residents.

Sefer Torah For Rabbinical College In Melbourne Australia
Melbourne, Australia — Over five hundred community members recently celebrated the completion of a new Sefer Torah donated to the Rabbinical College of Australia & New Zealand (Yeshivah Gedolah) in memory of the late Mr John Slater by his wife, Mrs Elizabeth Slater, together with their son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Batia Slater.

Why We Mourn on Tisha B’Av
The fast of Tisha b’Av, the saddest date on the Jewish calendar, is the day which saw the destruction of both Holy Temples, as well as many other tragic events throughout our nation’s tear-soaked galut (exile). A mournful mood is carefully created. We read Jeremiah’s Book of Lamentations and a lengthy collection of elegies which vividly describe all these tragedies, and throughout the day we follow many mourning practices.

Siyum HaRambam in Morristown
Morristown, NJ — This year the Rambam cycle ended for the 25th time, on Thursday, July 17, Chof Vov Tammuz.
At the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey, it was celebrated with great success. Over 150 students from Tomchei Temimim, Tiferes Bachurim and Yeshivas Kayitz attended, as well as dozens of community members, all gathered in the yeshiva’s auditorium for the grand celebration.

Fire Destroys Families Apartment
Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 1:40pm today, Sunday, a fire ripped through an apartment of family who barely escaped the flames. The incident happened at 770 Lefferts Avenue, a large and relatively new building complex which houses close to 60 families.
