Rabbi Begins 15th Year of leading Bible Studies at Chabad

CONEJO, CA — Rabbi Moshe Bryski began his 15th year of teaching the Bible this week at the Conejo Jewish Academy, 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills.

The academy’s Wednesday study group started with two people and has now grown into several groups with hundreds of participants.

Boro Park Shomrim Arrest Phony Water Inspectors

BOROUGH PARK, Brooklyn [CHI] – Five people were arrested Friday after knocking on doors and posing as Department of Environmental Protection water inspectors in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn. The group, which comprised of 3 males and 2 females, are suspected in a number of robberies in the area.

The arrests came after the Borough Park Division of Shomrim received a call to their hotline about the fake inspectors trying to enter the home of a resident, which prompted Shomrim members to follow the suspects for close to 5 hours, resulting in their arrest by the NYPD.

OMEK: A Fruitful Beginning

MOSCOW, Russia — Caricaturist Boris Efimov celebrated his 107th birthday this week at the Beit Menachem Chabad-Lubavitch Marinah Roshtza synagogue in Moscow. Efimov, who etched political caricatures until the early 1980s, received Soviet State Prizes twice and was People’s Painter of the USSR in 1967.

Pittsburgh native Rabbi Elazar Green, 30, is the local emissary of Chabad-Lubavitch, a small branch of Hasidic Judaism. His organization, Chabad Jewish Enrichment Center of Lancaster & York, has purchased a house in Spring Garden Township near York College that will serve as an outreach center of sorts.

LANCASTER, PA — Rabbi Elazar Green believes the most important building in the Jewish faith isn’t the synagogue. It’s the home.

“It’s where people can come and experience and live Judaism,” he said.
