4 Pedestrians and 3 Passengers injured in yet another Violent Collision

Crown Heights, Brooklyn – At around 4:10 Thursday afternoon an SUV and a sedan collided with great force, lost control, and plowed into a sidewalk full of pedestrians. The incident took place in the intersection of Lefferts Ave and Schenectady Ave and the vehicles were a BMW X5 SUV driven by a woman with one passenger and a Toyota Corolla driven by a man with two passengers.

Minneapolis, MN — Last week, they were in Iowa and South Dakota. Next week, they’ll be in Texas and Kansas.

And this week, Rabbis Moishe Raksin and Shneur Pruss are in Minnesota traveling to prisons as part of the group’s quest to visit every Jewish prisoner in the United States this summer.

The two rabbis, along with two dozen other volunteers with the nonprofit Aleph Institute, will visit 450 prisons to advise, console or listen to an estimated 5,000 Jewish inmates in state and federal prisons.

1. In this week’s Torah portion Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses our teacher) recounts what happened at Mount Sinai where the Yidin (the Jewish people) received the Ten Commandments/ the Torah.

During this repetition of the Ten Commandments, Moshe Rabbeinu reminds the Yidin that throughout the giving of the Ten Commandments the voice of Hashem was “a great voice which did not stop” .

2. The Rebbe now quotes the Midrash which brings three possible meanings for “it was a great voice which did not stop” :

North Carolina Regional Kinus Hashluchim

Charlotte, NC — This past Sunday a regional conference was held for the Chabad Shluchim to the Carolinas. The conference was held in the Lubavitch Educational Center of Charlotte and was attended by over 40 shluchim and shluchos with their families.

New Shluchim to Kenosha, Wisconsin!

Rabbi Tzali and his wife Rivkie (nee Matusof) Wilchanski will be IYH be moving out on Shlichus to Kenosha, Wisconsin where they will establish a new Chabad House to serve the needs of the local Jewry.

The new Shluchim were appointed by Rabbi Yisroel Shmotkin director of Lubavitch of Wisconsin

New Shliach Elected on Merkos Board

Rabbi Sholom Ber Levitin

Rabbi Sholom Ber Levitin, head Shliach to the state of Washington was recently elected on to the board of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch.

The last time there were new members elected to the board of Merkos was in the summer of 2004. At that time Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, head Shliach in Maryland and Rabbi Zev Katz, Gabbai of 770 were the two new members.

The need for new members comes after the passing in recent years of Rabbi Berel Junik and Rabbi Sholom Marazov who were both on the board.

Chabad’s Jewish Learning Institute Comes to the University
