JACKSONVILLE, FL [CHI] — Just a short year after first opening its doors, Chabad of Southside in Jacksonville, Florida welcomed a brand new Torah Scroll at a lively inauguration ceremony attended by members of the Jewish Community. Significantly the Torah ceremony took place 10 days before the High Holidays when many Jewish people from all levels of observance will attend services and participate in the Torah reading.

NOVI SAD, Serbia [CHI] –- Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia, the former Yugoslavia. In 1942 the holocaust devastated the Jewish community there, killing all of its 800 members. Now for the first time in over 55 years Rabbis Motti Seligson and Saadya Notik both from New York blew the Shofar in front of the synagogue in Novi Sad.

Motti and Saadya were sent out on Merkos Shlichus by Merkos Linyonai Chinuch where they have been visiting countries of the former Yugoslavia as well Bosnia and Hungry as a part of Chabad-Lubavitch’s global Jewish enrichment program.

• Do Not approach the bus until it comes to a full, complete stop and the door / stop sign is open.
• When you get off the bus, take five giant steps away from the bus, out of the danger zone.
• Cross in front of the bus, and make sure the bus driver can always see you.
• Never Never go back for anything.
• Never bend down near or under the bus.
• Never walk behind the bus, even when the bus is not in motion.

New Store on Kingston Ave – Toast Baguette

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — After opening two successful restaurants outside of Crown Heights, the founder a resident of Crown Heights decided to open one for his neighbors. The new store located on Kingston Ave [between Montgomery St and Empire Blvd] specializes in salads and toasted baguettes and is known to let customers stuff thier sandwiches and salads with whatever they want. The manager said that they will have their full and extended menu ready for after Tishrei.

Hachnosas Safer Torah amid Labor Day Preps!

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – A different kind of music rang through the streets of Crown Heights Sunday afternoon, amid the preparation of the West Indian Day Parade, better known as the Labor Day Parade, residents gathered and danced to Chassidishe Nigunim as they welcomed a newly completed Safer Torah.

The Safer Torah was dedicated in loving memory of R. Sholom DovBer HaCohen OBM and his wife Mrs. Yachet OBM Eichorn by their family.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — Rabbi Israel Rubin conceded that it was an unusual field trip for his students. They were here at Barn 70 on the backside of Saratoga Race Course on Friday morning to see a trainer about a horse. The trainer was Bob Baffert, and the horse, Maimonides, was a fast one who just may capture the Kentucky Derby next May.
