30 Days to the Tragic Passing of the Simons’s
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Family members, relatives and friends gathered Tuesday evening marking thirty days since the tragic passing of Rabbi Zev Yosef and his wife Rochel Simons OBM with a Shloshim gathering in the Chovevei Torah Hall.
In the gathering the crowd heard from Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba, Rabbi Matisyahu Cantor, Rabbi Yossi Jacobson and Rabbi Mordechai Kirchenbaum. The crowd heard about the couple and their tireless efforts in Chesed and their dedication to the Chinuch of the community.

The 16-year-old yeshiva student who told cops he was beaten by five black teens during an anti-Semitic rampage in Brooklyn has been involved in three other violent incidents in the past year.
Samuel Balkany reported being robbed at knifepoint, randomly pushed as he exited a car and having his nose broken in separate attacks since moving in with an aunt in Crown Heights last year, police sources said.

Tensions Run High at Press Conference
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — State Senator Eric Adams convened a press conference at the Jewish Museum to protest and condemn the vicious beating of the 16 year old yeshiva bochur this past Friday night.
Samuel Balkany, 16, needed staple to close gash after being attacked Friday night. Balkany told cops he was beaten by five black teens shouting hate-filled slurs said Sunday the attack has left him terrified – fearful of even walking outside his Brooklyn home.

Due to the tremendous growth since last year in the number of mentors, this year’s My Shliach event was moved from last year’s location at the Levi Yitzchak Library to this year’s larger location.
