A LETTER FROM A MOTHER…

Dear Nechama’s Closet,

As you may have noticed by now, I am a “regular customer” at Nechama’s Closet. I am writing this letter to thank you for all you have done for me and to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a middle-aged, (seemingly) middle-class Lubavitcher woman – a wife and mother of a (k”ah) large family who is deeply grateful for Hashem’s blessings.

Nightlife: A Cult?

by Mimi Notik

Could the buzzed-about cutting edge program for single girls in Crown Heights be a cult? I mean, its center is an enormous underground room laden with candles. It has hundreds of fans who constantly spread the word and bring more followers. Many girls come religiously and won’t miss a night. One girl even begs to help clean up.

But, according to guest lecturer Yossi Jacobson, it just can’t be.

Yup, that’s right. In his words, “The food at Nightlife is too good and the couches too comfortable.”

Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries in Brazil announced last week that they were strengthening their focus on a crucial aspect of their outreach: Getting adolescents and young adults aged 10 to 25 more involved in Jewish life.

They made the resolution at the conclusion of the country’s second-ever Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbis, held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in S. Paulo. The last such gathering occurred 20 years ago.
