The Levaya will be tomorrow, Monday, passing 770 at 11:00am, and then will continue to Montefiore Cemetery.

Rabbi Aryeh Grifkin is survived by his wife and children YLT; Yael Rosenberger (New York), Michal Korer (Brewster, NY), Devorah Leah Sandhaus (New York), Shneur Zalman, Menachem Mendel, Chana, Esther and Nessia.

They will be sitting Shiva a 1232 Carroll St, [between New York and Nostrand Ave]..

Electrical Fire Causes Alarm on Motzoai Shabbos

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – A short hour after Shabbos the residents in a home on Balfore Place called 911 after strong stench of gas filled the house. Firefighters responded and began investigating the odor.

After nearly a half an hour they managed to trace the odor to an electrical malfunction in the boiler of the house.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – Friday night at around 6:15pm, a resident on his way to Shul, noticed a small suitcase lying on the sidewalk of President Street between Albany and Troy Avenue and heard a buzzing sound coming from within it. He then approached a Police Officer posted on the corner and informed him of his suspicion.

Moments later the block filled with hundreds of Police Officers and Firefighters, all of whom staged a ‘safe area’ and evacuated the block. Mothers and young children were all forced out of their homes and into the cold due to the bomb scare.

Steven Kamierczak killed six and wounded 22 before turning the gun on himself. No immediate motive is known.

Our daughter, Chana Stery, is studying in a seminary in Israel this year.

As with most parents who send their children off to college out of town, we savor and enjoy every phone call, note, e-mail and text message we receive from our daughter. An added beauty to these communications is our knowing that we're not only the ones back home who get to hear from her on a regular basis. She continues to correspond with her very best friend: a lovely little girl named Miranda.

Miranda is a child with special needs. During Chana Stery's four years of volunteering for our community's Friendship Circle, she and a friend, Mushka Sapo, would visit Miranda at her home at least once a week.
