CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – Friday night at around 6:15pm, a resident on his way to Shul, noticed a small suitcase lying on the sidewalk of President Street between Albany and Troy Avenue and heard a buzzing sound coming from within it. He then approached a Police Officer posted on the corner and informed him of his suspicion.

Moments later the block filled with hundreds of Police Officers and Firefighters, all of whom staged a ‘safe area’ and evacuated the block. Mothers and young children were all forced out of their homes and into the cold due to the bomb scare.

Residents on the next block were kind enough and opened their doors allowing displaced residents into the warmth of their homes, while they waited for the ordeal to pass.

At around 7:30pm the bomb squad identified the buzzing sound as an electric toothbrush, in the suitcase, and allowed the resident back into their homes.

Part of the reason for the major response, was due to the elevated risk level issued the FBI for Shuls, following the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh, one of the world’s most wanted and elusive terrorists, which the Hezbollah terror organization blamed Israel for and vowed retaliation on Israel and Jewish institutions worldwide.

    So who’s suitcase/toothbrush was it?

Also note that if you leave your suitcase unatended in the train station to go get something out side, you can get a ticket which I saw on Kingston Ave.
