VANCOUVER, Canada — Two hundred people skated to Chanukah music at the West end arena Downtown Vancouver BC this Sunday, the sixth day of Chanukah.
PITTSBURGH, PA — I couldn’t count how many odd stares I received yesterday.
Maybe it was the Hanukkah music playing through loudspeakers of our RV-turned-Hanukkah Mobile, maybe it was the teenage boys in the back with me who wished everyone we saw a Happy Hanukkah and passed out menorahs, dreidels and chocolate from the moving vehicle.
We would like to wish Mazal Tov to Shmuly and Nechama Samuels (Crown Heights) on the birth of their daughter.
May the newborn be a source of Nachas to her parents, grandparents, relatives and Klal Yisroel.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — As Rabbi Zalman Light celebrates his 96th birthday on the 5th night of Chanukah, the “Festival of Lights,” he is surrounded by 100+ children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for the annual birthday party, which grows in number each year K”H.
Rabbi Light (Liachow) was born in 1911 and married Lena Minkowitz in 1944. After leaving Russia in 1946 with their first child, escaping the war through Germany & Austria, where the next two children were born, they settled in Toronto, Canada, and raised their children there amongst the Anash families in the area.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A cold and rainy evening turned devastating when an elderly Jewish woman attempted to cross Empire Boulevard and was struck by oncoming traffic leaving her unconscious and fighting for her life.
The incident took place at around 7:00pm when the woman tried to cross from the corner of Balfour Pl. and made it halfway across when traffic began coming she tried to turn around and was clipped by a passing taxi sending her flying through the air and landing on her head, dealing her severe head trauma and knocking her unconscious.

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia [CHI] — This Chanukah, the Jewish Community of Vladivostok filled the Philharmonic Concert Hall, celebrating the achievements of the past year. The evening’s program included entertainers from all over Russia, culminating with the lighting of the Menorah.
GOSHEN, NY [CHI] — The students of Chabad Hebrew School decided that the holiday time is a time for action. On Sunday, December 9, many students and their parents met at Shop Rite in Monroe to launch a toy drive.
S MONICA, CA [CHI] — Sunday at the Chanukah Craft Fair in S Monica, children made menorahs and dreidls during the fair and Rabbi’s Levitansky demonstrated how to press olive oil, and then lit a menorah with the oil.
