There is not a day that goes by when I do not hear about our “Shidduch Crisis.”

Maybe there is no Shidduch Crisis. Maybe there is a bigger crisis, a crisis we cannot fully control.

Is Shidduchim the only default we are up against? How about our community, anyone see a crisis there? Look at the heads of our community, is everything smooth on top? Look around you. Look deeply at your neighbors, friends, teachers, family, is everything else REALLY at peace?

Face it; we are in Golus and therefore have a dark cloud hovering around us. That is the source of all our crises.

BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — A significantly larger group picture was photographed this morning in front of Lubavitcher Yeshiva on Ocean Parkway, dubbed one of its largest summer sessions yet, Camp F.R.E.E.’s second month began a few short days ago with well over 100 children in attendance.

Napoleon Bonaparte was passing through the Jewish quarter in Paris when he stopped to investigate the strange cries and laments emanating from the local synagogue. His curiosity had peaked when he was informed that it was the Ninth of Av and that he was listening to the Jewish people wail over the destruction of their Holy Temple in Jerusalem. “When did this thing happen?” probed the inquisitive Emperor. “Some 1700 years ago,” came the nonchalant reply. Upon hearing this Napoleon remarked in a tone of awe and conviction: “A people who refuse to forget their past, are destined to forever have a future.”

The selected Farbrengens from the three months of Menachem Av, Elul and Tishrei of the years 5711-5728 (1951-1968) have been extracted from the original recordings made by Rabbi Sholom Yisroel Hodakov during the events, and have been meticulously preserved by experts in reel-to-reel audio work.
