In a consumer survey of adults who purchase kosher food, Mintel found that the number one reason people buy kosher is for food quality (62%).

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — Sami Dines, 16, says she learns invaluable lessons working weekly with Hailey, a 6-year-old who has epilepsy.

“People with special needs (should) not be defined by the special needs they have, but by who they are,” the West Bloomfield teenager said Sunday. “That’s important lesson for everyone to learn.”

Those attending the evening were participants of MyShliach’s Caring Mentor Program, a program that connects shluchim’s children with volunteer mentors. Since its inception, the program’s objective has been to facilitate open communication between the children and their mentors. Each week, MyShliach’s mentors call up their assigned child to Farbreng, learn a Sicha, or simply encourage the child through difficult times.
