By Nicole Eastaway for the Sydney Moning Herald

Helping those in need…Rabbi Holtzberg and his wife Frieda, second from right, cook meals at Bondi.

SYDNEY, Australia — Rabbi Nachman Holtzberg and his wife, Frieda, understand the overwhelming loss many families in Victoria are experiencing.

Their son, Gavriel, and daughter-in-law, Rivka, were killed at the Chabad Jewish Centre in Mumbai during the terrorist attacks in November. Their grandson Moshe Holtzberg, 2, was saved by his nanny Sandra Samuel after she discovered him crying and soaked with blood, standing next to his parents’ bodies.

NEW YORK, NY — Ask the hundreds of lay leaders who participated in last weekend’s 21st annual International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Women Emissaries why they trekked all the way to Brooklyn, N.Y., from points around the world, and many will tell of perceptions changed, barriers shattered and friendships forged as they got to know the female “soldiers” who run Chabad Houses, teach classes and preside over families from Nepal to New Brunswick.

Children Build Beis Hamikdosh Models for Kinus

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — In honor the Kinus Hashluchos and the Hakhel this year, over 60 Crown Heights children joined in building models of the Beis Hamikdosh. The models would later be placed on tables through the Kinus Hashluchos convention. Each model came with some 400 pieces and took about 4 hours to construct. The program was directed by Mrs Brocha Friedman.

A Sicha from the Rebbe on Parshas Mishpatim

The Rebbe says:

1. The Torah starts off this week’s Torah portion with saying, “And these are the laws (Mishpatim) that you shall place before them (the Jewish people)”.

2. The Rebbe now quotes three explanations of our Sages regarding why the Torah specifies that the laws should be placed, “before them”:

First explanation: When the Torah says that these laws should be placed, “before them”, it is teaching us that Jewish people should not bring their disputes to the gentile courts, even if the gentile courts would rule exactly like the Jewish courts in this specific case.

Interesting Call by Rabbi Krinsky at Kinus

In his address at the Banquet of the International Conference of Chabad Lubavitch Women Emissaries, Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Chairman of the Chabad Lubavitch educational and social-services divisions, called on the shluchos to make sure to care for themselves as they care for others.

“…the You shluchos are the engine that propels the successful mission of your family. You are the ballast that keeps the stability—the equilibrium—”sanity” if you will—the joy of your family throughout the unique complexities of shlichus life. You are the ones who care and nurture your family with calm and warmth and love. And you are the very mighty anchor providing the compass and stability in the extraordinary everyday lives that you and your families lead.
