Moderate drinking has been associated with decreasing the risk for heart disease, but it also has been linked to increasing the risk for some cancers. And though their study found that beer and wine could be beneficial to bone strength, the researchers cautioned that people need to balance the risks and benefits of alcohol with their individual health concerns.

SEOUL, South Korea [CHI] — Chabad of Korea is planning to open the country's first Jewish library. Rabbi Osher Litzman, who opened the country's first Chabad House in Seoul in April, 2008 said he was moved to open a library, and dedicate it to Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg, after learning that the bookshelves were the only part of Mumbai's Chabad House not destroyed in the terrorist attacks. The library is hoped to be a source of knowledge, information and enlightenment to the country's growingly active Jewish community. Rabbi Litzman hopes to have the library open by this Shavuot.

MINEOLA, NY [CHI] — This past week the fascinating and enriching ten-week course on Jewish Business Ethics concluded at Chabad of Mineola NY.

Every 28 years the sun returns to the exact position, at the same time of the week, that it occupied at the time of its creationóat the beginning of the fourth day of creation. A special blessing called Birkat Hachamah, “the sun blessing” is recited to mark this event. Due to the rarity of this event, this blessing is customarily recited amid large public gatherings of men, women and children.
