A special blessing called Birkat Hachamah, “the sun blessing” is recited to mark this event. This year, 5769, we will perform this special mitzvah on the morning of April 8 (the morning before Passover).

    I heard that twice in history, Birchas Hachama happened Erev Pesach – like this year. In the past, they happened Erev Pesach during Yetzias Mitzraim and during the story of Chanukah / Purim, can’t remember exactly. IY”H this year…. 3rd and final golus, amen!!!

    the last time Birchas Hachama was on Erev Pesach was 1925.
