Rabbi Yehoshua B. Gordon has been teaching a daily Chumash and Rashi class for the past twenty or so years. About 10 years ago, a daily Tanya class was added as well.
These two classes are now streamed live daily and are also available “On Demand.” The venue of this Shiur is Chabad of Encino, California, following morning Davening. The average daily attendance is 20-25 people and 40-60 people on Sundays, “Kain Yirbu.”
In conjunction with the devoted efforts of Chabad.org on the East Coast and Mr. Daniel Aharanov, a local lay leader in the digital media industry on the West Coast, this class is now available to the cyber-space community.
Classmates and teachers of a young Jewish girl who succumbed to a brain tumor remembered her for a maturity beyond her years and a profound love of Jewish people the world over. Chaya Mushka Ashkenazi, who passed away June 17 at Tel Hashomer Hospital in Tel Aviv, was the daughter of Rabbi Chaim Eliezer and Rochel Ashkenazi, Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries in Bangkok, Thailand, since 2000. She was 7.
According to friends of the family, it was almost one year ago to the day that the Ashkenazis, who helped coordinate activities for all of Thailand’s five Chabad Houses, travelled back home to Israel for a wedding. Her parents wanted to give the girl and her five siblings a chance to spend quality time with their extended family in Kfar Chabad and Jerusalem, but not long after the wedding, Chaya Mushka complained of extreme headaches and of not feeling well in general. Tests revealed the worst.
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Gimmel Tammuz is typically a time where all Chabad Chasidim go to the Rebbe’s Ohel and along the way many Lubavitchers will see others they haven’t seen in some time, however for one group of friends seeing each other on Gimmel Tammuz wasn’t something that was going to happen by accident or fortuitously, it was a long prior planned reunion of the 8th grade Oholei Torah of the year 5748/1988.
Oholei Torah’s eighth grade went to Washington DC for their graduation trip. They visited the White House, the US Mint, the Holocaust Museum and saw many other landmarks.

From the mouths of babes … you anchored strength – (psalms 8,3)Recently on a Shabbos in 770, I overheard a dialogue between a 12 and 22 year old. It was kind of a big/little brother schmooze, discussing their inspiration from the Rebbe.

Recently on a Shabbos in 770, I overheard a dialogue between a 12 and 22 year old. It was kind of a big/little brother schmooze, discussing their inspiration from the Rebbe.
The 12 year old who was born three years after Gimmel Tammuz 5754, turns to his mentor who was only seven at that time. Revealing the most powerful sentiments I ever heard describing the power of our most revered Rebbe.
