NEW YORK, NY [CHI] — The Chabad of the Valley Girls NY Trip 09 touched down at JFK early Thursday morning after an overnight flight from Burbank, CA. Though the highlight of the trip, a visit to the Rebbe’s room and the Ohel won’t take place until Monday IYH, the event has gotten off to an amazing start. From reciting Tefilas Haderech as the plane took off , to davening Shacharis at the Jewish Children’s Museum to start the day on Thursday, the inspiring spiritual journey that is the purpose of this yearly event is well underway.

New Muchnik Mural Unveiled in Monsey Shul

MONSEY, NY [CHI] — Last night, Motzai Shabbos parshas Terumah, a large crowd gathered at K’hal Tzemach Tzedek Lubavitch of Monsey for the unveiling of an original 10′ x 18’ mural that Chasidic artist Reb Michoel Muchnik created especially for the lobby of the Shul. This most beautiful piece of art is part of the Shuls new Building Fund Wall of Honor.

TRAGEDY: Baruch Dayan Hoemes – HaYeled Levi Yitzchok Wolowik OBM

It is with profound pain and sorrow that we inform you of the very untimely passing of Levi Yitzchok Wolowik (9) of Cedarhurst, NY. Levi is the son of Rabbi Zalman and Chanie Wolowik who are Shluchim to the Five Towns.

The Levaya will take place on Sunday afternoon and will be leaving from the Shomrei Hadaas Chapel at 1:00pm and will be passing by 770 at around 1:30pm, the Levaya will then pass by Chabad of Five Towns, 74 Maple Ave, Cedarhurst, NY 11516 at around 2:30 then on to the New Montefiore Cemetery, 226-20 Francis Lewis Boulevard in Queens.

Video – City Council Holds Hearing on Ticket Grace Period

MYFOXNY.COM – New York is often called a ticket-happy city. Now some lawmakers want to cut drivers some slack. The City Council held hearings on a proposal to create a grace period for certain parking violations because of complaints that traffic agents were writing tickets too early. Fox 5’s John Deutzman has been investigating this topic for more than a year.

Suspicious Fire in a Vacant Apartment

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] – Friday afternoon at around 2pm, a fire was started in an empty apartment. Located on the 4th floor of 1622 President Street, a Jewish owned building, on the corner of Schenectady Avenue. The apartment building has 46 residential units.

The idea of G-d wanting a home in this world is one that comes up a lot and is a central theme in Chassidic Philosophy. So it’s one that I thought about quite often. Usually I think of it in terms of us making the world a Home for G-d by filling it with things we know make Him happy, and by making it clear that it (the world) belongs to Him. And the Mishkan (the portable temple that we learn about in this week’s Torah Portion) is an even more tangible representation of that.
