POUGHKEEPSIE, NY [CHI] — Rabbi Hanoch Hecht and members of the Jewish community of Rhinebeck, New York will ascend in hot air balloons to Rabbi Takes Congregation in Hot Air Ballons.

Birkas HaChama (the blessing of the sun) is a ceremony in which Jews recite a blessing on the Sun as it returns to the place it was appointed during Creation. It occurs every 28 years and always on a Wednesday.

Announcing New Shluchim to Australia

Rabbi Shmuli, his wife Sara (nee Dinerman) Stiefel and their infant son of Crown Heights, will IYH be going on Shlichus to St Ives, Australia. They will be joining the staff at Chabad House of the North Shore.

The new Shluchim were appointed by Shliach Rabbi Nochum Shapiro.

He survived by his wife Etlle, his sons Yonason (Crown Heights), Shmuel (Kfar Chabad, Israel), and his daughter, Chaya Rapporport (Jerusalem, Israel)

The levaya was in Jerusalem Sunday evening.

Picture of the Day! – Bochurim Leaving for Pesach Shlichus!

As Pesach draws nearer and the streets are abuzz with an entire community preparing for the holiday, 570 Bochurim are leaving the comfort of their homes and families for the Seder nights to fly all over the world and conduct Sedorim for Jews who otherwise wouldn’t be celebrating Pesach at all.

This group left earlier in the afternoon and are all heading to Ukraine to conduct the Sedorim across the country.

The Story of the Model Matzah Bakery that was a Failure

They were amongst hundreds of students traveling across the globe—some to places like Connecticut, California and England, but others to more remote locations like Chile and Russia. The Chabad-Lubavitch students, who recently completed three years of post-high school learning, were tasked with assisting local schools and nurturing the Jewish community in their given locations for a year, and sometimes two.

The six students who were assigned to S. Petersburg, Russia, in 1994 originally came from Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Canada, France and New York, and were all students at the Lubavitch School in Morristown, NJ.

Al Sharpton is known in the Crown Heights Jewish community circles, as the force who riled up residents in Crown Heights during the 1991 riot. With sadness we inform you of the the passing of Moshe Freundlich, a member of Anash in London, England. He passed away on Shabbos. Reb Freundlich is survived by his wife, his sons: Shloime (CH), Binyomin Mordechai (Shliach in Moscow), Yakov Daniel (CH), Eliezer Chaim (CH) and his daughter, Rus Brocho Rivkin (London).

COLUMBIA, SC — Rabbi Levi Marrus, from the Jewish outreach organization Chabad of SC, led students at Columbia Jewish Day School in a matzah bakery Thursday, March 26. The activity was to give the students a hands- on understanding of the process used in making matzah and its role in the Jewish holiday of Passover.
