FRANCE — Chabad representative in Marseille, France, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Labkowsky was presented with a medal of honor by the city’s police department for his work with Jewish inmates in the prisons of southern France.

“Rabbi Labkowsky serves as a model for excellence and tireless dedication,” said the district commander of southern France, who placed the medal on the Rabbi’s lapel in the presence of the French police commissioner.

Starting Tonight: Yeshivas Erev – After School Learning

Every weeknight over 350 boys from grades 5-8 get together in three different locations throughout the community for an hour of learning.

The boys spend their time reviewing the Gemara and Rashi inside, doing their homework with the help of our devoted Madrichim, as well as learning Mishnayos, Gemara and Tanya by heart. There is also a Shiur every night in a Sicha of the Rebbe, Halacha, Chassidishe story etc. The program ends with a Minyan for Ma’ariv, davening at the pace of the boys.

Officials are contemplating a new protocol that would transfer callers who report influenza-like symptoms to a special hot line manned by light-duty paramedics and a doctor, said a source with knowledge of the talks.
