In 1972, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, while celebrating his 70th birthday, famously declared that far from retiring, he wanted 71 new Chabad-Lubavitch institutions to be established in time for his 71st.

A just-released video that is being screened by Jewish communities around the world chronicles a 1972 Chasidic gathering made famous by a request from the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, to open 71 new Chabad-Lubavitch institutions in the ensuing year.

‘Pesach’ Hotel Employee Makes Bomb Threat Against Jews

CORAL GABLES, FL — A bomb threat to the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables early Monday morning was traced to the office of the resort’s own chef.

Coral Gables police said just before 5 a.m. a 911 call was made to the department’s police and fire communications center in which a man said there was a bomb in the hotel and ‘death to all Jews’ before hanging up.

On the day after David Greenfield’s stunning 18-point special election victory over Joe Lazar, leaders in the Hasidic community of Boro Park were already making calls about the elections this November.

But they were not looking for a candidate to run against Greenfield—though he will have to run again for the Council seat he just won.

Instead, these leaders were gauging the interest in running a Hasidic candidate against Assembly Member Dov Hikind, the longtime Orthodox Jewish powerbroker who strongly backed Lazar, according to an individual who has been approached by multiple people about running against Hikind.

“The question everyone is asking today is: Who is running against Dov?” the person said.

Sitting around Rabbi Shmuel Raskin’s table for the second seder in Budapest and singing Passover songs, holiday celebrators were shocked when stones suddenly crashed against the windows. Ynet learned of the threatening incident, which members of the local Jewish community are attributing to the rise of the radical Right in Hungary.

Alternate Side Parking Regulations Suspended for Pesach

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday March 30th alternate side parking regulations are suspended throughout Pesach, less Saturday for people parking on Eastern Parkway.

The days suspended are March 30th through April 2nd, and April 5th and 6th.

All other regulations including, including parking meters, remain in effect.
