Simchas Torah is primarily a Yom Tov which is celebrated as a family. Fathers dance happily together with their children and the Sifrei Torah. For this reason, there will be special Hakofos in 770 where children will be able to experience Hakofos in the Rebbe’s Shul. The Hakofos will only be on Thursday night, the night of Tahalucha. It is forbidden on a holiday to do any act in preparation for the following day,1 even if the following day is Shabbat. However, the sages created a halachic device, called an eruv tavshilin, which allows one to cook food on a holiday day for use on a Shabbat that immediately follows it.
Avoid a parking ticket! Pay attention, alternate side parking regulations are suspended for Shemini Atzereth Sep. 30th (Thursday) and Simchas Torah October 1st, (Friday) but are then in affect again on Shabbos (October 2nd).
One hot attraction this Chol Hamoed was the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights, where Jews from all walks of life flocked to enjoy the exhibits and hands on activities.

ULYANOVSK, Russia [CHI] — Over 300 Jews participated in our exhilarating Sukkos event! 4 volunteers with lulav and esrog in hand helped everyone fulfill this special mitzvah. As they entered the largest sukkah in Russia (nearly 2,000 sqare feet!), the participants were pleasantly surprised by how magnificent the place looked, and how warm it felt. The courtyard was recently renovated for our Hachnosas Sefer Torah to look and feel like the old city of Jerusalem.
