Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty kindled the Shamash and Senator Rudy Boschwitz (R-MN, 1979-1991) Chairman of Friends of Chabad Lubavitch of Minnesota chanted the brachos and lit the first Chanukah candle on Wednesday night, on the grounds of the Minnesota State Capitol.

Chanukah opens with Deptford Mall event

DEPTFORD TWP. — In what has become a yearly tradition, the start of the Chanukah holiday was celebrated Wednesday evening at the Deptford Mall. The event, sponsored jointly by the Chabad Jewish Center and the Mall, featured crafts for the children, a real live Judah the Maccabee, delicious Chanukah foods, and a giant Menorah lit by state Sen. Fred Madden.

Senate Maj. Leader Harry Reid Celebrates Chanukah

Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign met today with Rabbis Chaim and Yosef Cunin from Chabad of Nevada to celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah. Together they recited a Brachah, a traditional Jewish blessing said before the lighting of each candle on the menorah.

Back in the 90’s, Chabad took full advantage of the virtual communities on America Online (AOL) and then launched some of the most impressive websites once everyone migrated to the Web. For years, Chabad has been a strong force in Cyberspace with “Ask the Rabbi” websites, online distance learning, and viral videos.
