ALBANY — The number of New Yorkers on food stamps has soared to a record 3 million – an 11% jump from 2009 and a 65% increase in the past five years, the Daily News has learned.
The My Encounter with the Rebbe team spent a whirlwind 10 days in Montreal interviewing members of the community who had personal encounters with the Rebbe. Though the trip is over and the team is back in Crown Heights, the interviews and experiences of these special Yidden are now recorded for posterity.

Benjamin Aminoff first came to what is now the 47th Street Synagogue in Manhattan some 40 years ago when he moved to the United States from Jerusalem to work as a colored stones salesman. “It was the only synagogue that was convenient for me to come and pray,” says Aminoff, who believes himself to be the synagogue’s oldest member.
