2,000 Year-Old Sketch of Menorah Found in Jerusalem

Arutz 7

The diagonal branches of the menorah in the sketch (center) seem to vindicate the Rebbe’s opinion that the menorah in the Beis Hamikdosh had straight branches as in the Rambam’s sketch (right), and not curved as usually depicted (left).

Exciting finds, including an intact Roman era sword and a stone “sketch” engraving of the Menorah, have been discovered in archeological digs near the Temple Mount recently, and the Antiquities Authority is making them known for Tisha B’Av – the anniversary of the Temple’s destruction.

No Jew in Central Florida Need Go Without a Bris

Florida Jewish News

Rabbi Yanky and Chanshy Majesky of Chabad of North Orlando

The Orlando Jewish community rejoiced as little Joseph received his bris ritual circumcision, a celebration entering him into a covenant with God. This ritual has been practiced ever since God commanded Abraham the first Jew: “This is My covenant that you shall observe between Me and you and your children after you, to circumcise your every male.”

Shomrim Apprehend Auto Burglar

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A thief broke into a minivan and nearly got away with it thanks to the NYPDs dawdling response time – taking over fifteen minutes to respond to the incident, despite repeated calls from Shomrim volunteers and dispatchers.

Chabad Motorcycle ‘Gang’ Spreads Judaism

Brooklyn Ink

A few days before Passover last April, a stream of RVs decorated with Hebrew letters rolled down Eastern Parkway in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn. The caravan of 61 vehicles was not a trailer park gone rogue, but an annual parade of the so-called Mitzvah Tanks that the Chabad-Lubavitch movement uses to encourage Jews toward religious observance. This year, though, the tanks were flanked by the the newest and perhaps unlikeliest members of Chabad outreach, a group of Hasidic and Orthodox motorcyclists called Rebbe’s Riders.

Virulent NY Post Editorial: ‘Shomrim Shanda’

A little over a week ago, Michael Lesher took to the pages of the New York Post to publish a column of unabashed hate and seething venom against Brooklyn’s Shomrim patrols. Apparently unsatisfied with the previous assault, the NY Post has decided to launch another attack on the Jewish volunteer safety patrol from its editorial pages. Ungrateful for the tremendous effort Shomrim put together to find the missing Leiby Kletzky, the New York Post summons the audacity to accuse Shomrim of getting in the way of the NYPD during the investigation.

Atra Kadisha Attack Lubavitcher Rov

Shturem

‘Atra Kadisha’ protest the desecration of graves in Israel. Inset: Rabbi Binyomin Lerer.

A shocking report from Beitar Ilit relates of a violent attack on Rabbi Binyomin Lerer’s home in Beitar. Members of the Atra Kadisha organization were irked by the handling of burial sites at the Africa – Israel company work site. Rabbi Lerer, who is the Rov of the Lubavitcher community in the Dekel neighborhood, is the Rov at Africa Israel, and Atra Kadisha holds him responsible for the way the kevorim issue was taken care of.
