Riots Spread to Jewish Community of Stamford Hill [Latest Update: 8:17pm EST]
As another night of unrest begins in London, the Jewish community is taking precautions to protect their stores from the violent riots.
Police have urged store owners to close their establishments in Stamford Hill (North London) and many store owners have emptied the contents of the stores. In North West London there are threats from riots just outside Golders Green at Brent Cross Shopping Centre, which is just a five minute walk from the main road in the Jewish Community. The area has gone on high alert.
Rabbonim have urged the community not to be around or near the riots even as bystanders. People can still go to Shul but should be cautious and keep away if riots enter the area.
All gas stations in Stamford Hill have been closed, and the Police Emergency number (999) is not being picked up. There is currently a 10 minute waiting time for an operator to take your emergency call.
A total of 215 arrests have been made in the London Riots.
Shomrim of Northwest London tell YWN that their role will be to preserve life and protect humanity only. Shomrim does not & won’t provide protection to business premises.
UPDATE 1:32PM EST: Shomrim of London reports that they are on the scene of riots in the Jewish community Stamford Hill. There are youths reported to be in the area with baseball bats on the streets. Police and Shomrim are on the scene, and ambulances have been called.
UPDATE 1:57PM EST: There are reports of a stabbing in Stamford Hill on Portland Ave. An ambulance has been called to the scene.

UPDATE 2:31PM EST: Lower Clapton road is now under attack in the area of Evering Rd Junction, and Clapton Common in Stamford Hill has now been completely closed off.
UPDATE 2:55PM EST: There are reports of another stabbing on Crowland Road in Stamford Hill.
UPDATE 5:09PM EST: Looting has started in Curry’s Staples Corner – just outside the Jewish neighborhood in North West London.
UPDATE 6:02PM EST: There is a large group of youths on Golders Green Road, and police are engaging them. There are large riots ongoing in the Lower Clapton, Hackney areas.
UPDATE 6:05PM EST: Police are currently patrolling most street corners in the Stamford Hill Jewish Community. Shomrim in Golders Green & Hendon are on high alert and patrolling the streets. To report an incident call the Shomrim emergency hotline 0300 999 1234.
UPDATE 8:17PM EST: Large groups of youths are walking through the Jewish area of Golders Green and starting to riot. Police have arrived in force and have arrested two people.

The caption on the photo refers to “demanding justice over the shooting of Mark Duggan”. Justice was done when that thug was shot. More justice would be done if a few dozen of these rioters were shot too, so that the others would learn by example.

I live in Stamford Hill and yes things are eerily quiet as people closed down the shops put of fear. It has not reached the Jewish area and everyone is fine bh.

Still very tense atmosphere EVERYWHERE in London, There were “scums” by the shopping precinct in the area I live (20mins from Stamford Hill) last night, but TG I belieive the police were ready for them.I hope they don’t come back tonight! Looking at Sky news and listening to the radio, it is so absolutely frightening. Kids are just out there to make as much damage, taking anything they can get their hands on, i.e. trainers (very popular) electrical, clothes etc. The worse is the fires they are making. One furniture firm which as been in the family for over 3 generations and the building wasbuilt in 1896 has been burnt down. Peoples homes burnt,they are left with nothing as they had to get out quickly. One man in his 60’s attacked and in a serious condition in hospital, another young man of 26 died when his car was attacked. Who knows where these kids are going tonight…CALL IN THE ARMY AND STOP THIS NOW. It has spread outside London also.

THERE NEED TO BE A CURFEW OR FAVE THE CONSEQUENCES, FOR THIS IS OUT OF HAND ALREADY. lONDON, WAKE UP IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THE SITUATION. BRING IN FORCE, THE ARMY, NATIONAL GUARD, CHARGE THEM WITH HORSES, TEAR GAS, HOSE THEM DOWN. ENGLAND HAS BECOME A WAR ZONE.
