If Rabbi Yisrael Pinson, outgoing director of the Daniel B. Sobel Friendship House, had known how difficult his job was going to be, he would not have taken it. Now, he is grateful that he did not pass up the opportunity. Rabbi Yarden Blumstein has taken Pinson’s place.

Guns are blazing in Southern Brooklyn, NYPD statistics show. The traditionally less-violent Brooklyn South patrol borough – comprised of 13 police precincts – is the only command in the city to report a spike in shootings so far this year. There were 103 shootings in Brooklyn South – especially in neighborhoods such as East Flatbush, Crown Heights and Coney Island – up from 82 at this time last year.

It seems that being taken away by ambulance after a brutal beating and calling 911 is not enough for the cops to hear about an incident in which police officers actually responded to. CrownHeights.info has learned that more than four days after the incident took place neither the local precinct, nor the Patrol Borough of Brooklyn South have any idea that this crime took place.
