It was with warmth and love that the Peoria community came to celebrate with Chabad Jewish Center of Peoria and of Bradley University, as they celebrated 10 years this past Sunday, November 20. The 10 year anniversary was commemorated with a gala dinner that was not only beautiful and elegant, but an uplifting and inspiring experience to all who attended.

HaGaon HaRav Menachem Mendel Mendelson ZT”L, the Rav of Komomiyut, Israel for the past 33 years, was niftar today, 27 Cheshvan, 5772. The Rav was a dear and close friend of Lubavitch, particularly close with Rabbi Moshe Havlin of Kiryat Gat, and participated in many Lubavitcher events.
In the above video clip, Rabbi Mendelson tells the Rebbe that the Chabad Yeshiva in Kiryat Gat is in need of financial help. The Rebbe tells him to find 2 more Rabbis (anyone with smicha) and pasken that they should get money. Rabbi Mendelson did what the Rebbe suggested, and since then the Kiryat Gat Yeshiva has been doing well financially!

On Oct 24, I protested a visit to Yale University by noted journalist, Thomas Friedman. After his lecture, I stood in the corner of the Whitney Humanities Center and held a sign that asked the question: “With friends like Chomsky, Soros, Mearsheimer and Thomas Friedman, does Israel need enemies?”
Not too long ago, it might have been one of the least likely locations from where a religious scribe would start writing a Torah scroll, but on Sunday, families and friends affiliated with a Jewish center in the New York City neighborhood of Harlem gathered to celebrate just such an occasion.
