Bomb Scare at Lefferts Park This Morning

Crown Heights [CHI] — Residents who live in the vicinity of Lefferts Park awoke this morning to find the area teeming with police officers, ESU (Emergency Service Unit) rescue workers and a bomb squad. A suspicious looking black suitcase inside the park was the cause of the tumult. Police blocked off the streets leading up to the park and conducted their investigation, after which it was determined that the package was harmless.

Fire Destroys Shliach’s Home in Poland

Rabbi Nechemia Segal, Shliach to Warsaw, Poland, suffered a home fire, and everything he owned was consumed by the flames. Thank G-d, none of the family members were hurt. The fire broke out while R’ Nechemia was at shul, an hour’s distance from home. Mrs. Segal managed to flee the flames with her children.

London Yeshiva Prepares for Yud Shvat

As Yud Shevat approaches, the preparations at Yeshiva Gedolah London have been underway with tremendous momentum. For the past 30 years, since the Yeshiva was founded, the Bochurim in London have participated in Learning Oisios of the Rebbe’s Maamarim by heart, which earns them tickets in a raffle Rabbi M. M. Gordon, the Mashpia, makes for a trip to the Rebbe for Yud Shevat.

Families and Seniors Mix it Up in Canton, Mass.

Children from the Chai Center in Canton recently buddied up with seniors from the Simon Fireman House in Randolph. The Chai Center created a Senior Buddy program that links volunteers and families with seniors to enjoy each other’s companionship, participate in activities and develop ongoing relationships.
