As the world marks the 26th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor explosion, Chabad’s Children of Chernobyl (CCOC) continues the work of saving the disaster’s youngest victims, having just completed its 97th rescue mission bringing 26 more children to safety and commemorating the 26 years since the Chernobyl disaster.

In Azerbaijan to tout his country’s ties with the predominantly-Muslim former Soviet republic, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman toured the Ohr Avner Chabad day school in the capital of Baku, meeting with various Jewish organizations one day after sitting down with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

After a pro-Palestinian boycott caused them to lose a large portion of their funding, an Israeli theater company – which is scheduled to perform Shakespeare’s ‘the Merchant of Venice’ in London – appealed to a nearby Chabad House to help by hosting the religious cast members for Yom Tov.
