Each year, tens of thousands of spectators gather together in ‘Simcha Monica,’ California for a grand parade in honor of the fourth of July. The parade, which runs for approximately two miles, is filled with many kinds of floats. Since its inception, Chabad in Simcha Monica has played a major role in the parade in order to spread the light of Judaism to the masses in an unprecedented manner.
At least 147 people have lost their lives in a torrent of rising water in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region near the Black Sea after a deluge of rain – nearly five months’ worth – fell overnight Friday. More than 5,000 homes have been evacuated and President Vladimir Putin declared Monday to be a day of mourning for the victims.

Much of the program will deal with the same issues that nearly 200 Chabad Mechanchos dealt with during their conference last week at the DOLCE center, in Norwalk. In addition, the Kinus will concentrate on the need to foster the development of children’s healthy self-image and worth within a turbulent world, an issue which is reflective of the realities Mechanchim deal with daily.

Yeshivas Lubavitch of Baltimore’s Mishmor – the weekly Learning program with Bochrim for boys ages 8 and up – celebrated a Year End Gala Dinner honoring the students and staff for their commitment throughout the year of 5772.

Rabbi Pinny Gniwisch has seen the abject poverty and violence of Brazil’s cities first hand. As a Chabad rabbi, he has travelled to Rio de Janeiro where millions live in shantytowns that teem with homeless children, exploited and sometimes callously murdered.
