Orthodox chef Yuda Schloss knows his way around bacon — lamb bacon, that is. The self-described hipster is the culinary force behind new pop-up eatery Hassid+Hipster, whose handcrafted artisanal kosher sandwiches have been generating a buzz in Crown Heights’ Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic community.
A 47-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son were found this morning, December 9, 2013, lying injured on the roof of a vehicle in Kfar Chabad, Israel. Police report that it appears the woman threw her son from their second floor window, and then jumped after him.

Talented Crown Heights videographer Avraham Edery compiled a riveting short film of this year’s Chanukah Menorah parade, which snaked through New York City Monday night spreading the message and joy of the festival of lights throughout the great metropolis.
An historic moment took place in Denver, Colorado on the seventh night of Chanukah. For the first time in history, a public menorah was erected in front of the State Capitol building, and was lit by Colorado’s Jewish Senator, Michael Bennet (D).

On Thursday, the last day of Chanukah, hundreds gathered at the Marina Roscha Chabad Shul in Moscow for a Seudas Hoda’a, thanking Hashem for the miraculous recovery of Shliach to Derbent, Dagestan Rabbi Ovadia Isakov after he was shot in the chest by a Muslim extremist last summer.
On Motzei Shabbos, Chabad of South Broward, Florida marked Hey Teves with a Farbrengen, led by Rabbi Rafael Tennenhaus.

In honor of Hey Teves the volunteers in the Lubavitcher Yeshiva PTA organized a special fair featuring Seforim and books at greatly discounted prices. Also at the fair was a story hour with Nechamy Segal.
Following the Rebbes directive to buy new Seforim and learn in them, many vendors set up ‘booths’ in and around 770 and sold a variety of Seforim at greatly discounted prices.
