The Rohr Chabad at Franklin & Marshall College offered free rides on a horse-and-buggy with a menorah strapped to its roof last week.

In honor of Hey Teves, Oholei Torah students enjoyed a full program from Grades Pre 1A-8, including: a Seforim Sale, an overview of the Rebbeim’s Seforim, a Chinese auction and a special presentation by a group of the eighth grade students who showed special Seforim including an 1800’s edition of Lekutai Torah.

Community Celebrates Shliach’s Miraculous Recovery
One year ago, on the second day of Chanukah, December 10, 2012, 9-year-old Dovid Geisinsky walked into a room to find his father, Rabbi Yosef Geisinsky, director of Chabad of Great Neck, lying on the floor unconscious.

Barefoot and Freezing, Resident Chases Down Burglar
Temperatures in Crown Heights plunged last night into the single digits, but that did not stop a determined resident from chasing down, barefoot and in pajamas, a burglar he witnessed inside his car.
FDNY Ambulance Involved in Crash, One Hurt
One person was hurt when the minivan he was driving was struck by an FDNY ambulance that was responding to an emergency. Hatzalah and Shomrim gave assistance, and made a big Kiddush Hashem in the process.

Oholei Torah’s younger division, grades Pre-1A through 2nd, held their annual father and son Melava Malka and Farbrengen, which coincided with Hey Teves. The students enjoyed musical entertainment, prizes and a special program in honor of Hey Teves.
Rabbi Baruch Hertz poses for a photo outside of Congregation Bnei Ruven in West Rogers Park. Hertz, an Orthodox rabbi, walks about 5.5 miles from Chabad of Lakeview to West Rogers Park a few times a month during the Sabbath, when driving is prohibited. Photos were not allowed to be taken of the rabbi's walk because using electronics also is prohibited on the Sabbath.
Shliach Walks 5 Miles to Serve Two Congregations
Chicago Shliach Rabbi Baruch Hertz, along with his wife Chanie and a few of their children, walks 5.5 miles on Shabbos in order to serve two congregations, one in Lakeview and the other in West Rogers Park. A DNAInfo/Chicago reporter tagged along one Shabbos and prepared an inspiring story on what he witnessed.

Until recently, Ten Yad’s acclaimed soup kitchen fed the hungry; now the social services arm of Chabad of São Paulo is providing access to the kinds of benefits that will raise the quality of life for the city’s struggling Jewish population.

I was not molested as a child, yet a number of close friends were. Boruch Hashem, the perpetrators are locked up. The tide has turned, and molestation is no longer tolerated, nor swept under the rug. Yet, there are some real questions that no one seems willing to address in a meaningful way.

Menorah Lit at Historic Jerusalem Train Station
